Stew Frick is the creator and designer of Forlorn Moon, and is currently writing this in the third person so that this section has a professional flare to it. They have been painting clothing since 2016, originally being inspired by painting tutorial videos and documentaries used as a method to fall asleep. Since 2016, they have been a fixture of the Pittsburgh arts scene, if a bit of a homebody, working with a multitude of local musicians, galleries, shops, and event curators in an effort to bring painted clothing to the masses.

Stew started out with a focus on fashion, molding this passion with painting in an effort to break away from the relatively soul-sucking fashion environment of working at a Forever 21, which harbored a deep resentment of both poor business practices and cheap, meaningless clothing. What better way to bring more meaning to a piece than require that it takes many hours to properly create? By combining these passions for fashion and painting, they have subsequently forged a unique style and identity which cannot be easily replicated, focusing on the craft and quality required to make “Wearable Art” as they often pompously call their work.

In all seriousness, thank you. Especially if you read through those last two paragraphs and are reading this, you mean the world to me. While I like to think that I would be satisfied by sitting in my studio, slowly painting pieces that no one but me would see, the greatest joy for me in this artistic practice is sharing it with others, and creating pieces which can be cherished by those who receive them. I greatly encourage you to reach out and ask any questions you like (and optimally, buy a piece too), because there are few things in this world I love more than painting..

I hope to hear from you soon.
